MAYHEM AT WAIMEA BAY (THE ALLEGORY OF THE SEA.)
Mayhem At Waimea Bay (The Allegory of the Sea) is a self-published book by the artist Julian Klincewicz.
Released in a public Edition of 400.
Offset printed in Belgium, 2023. Softcover,
64 pp., 185.5 mm x 254 mm
Each book is hand numbered and comes with a custom box. The box is, in fact a signed, frame-able artist print, disguised as an unassuming cardboard box.
The book contains 41 photographs, accompanied by a prose poem that runs 60 pages. Each image pairs perfectly with a line from the poem — creating a seamless harmony between text & image. The book is a journey into inspiration itself: An exploration of the artistic cycle, from burnout to rebirth and ultimately to the surrender of the unexpected.
Surfing the iconic waves of Hawaii’s Waimea Bay serves as a trojan horse for man’s neverending search for purpose & place in the world and the artist’s search for voice & inspiration.
The images are in Klincewicz’s signature style — highly textural and colorful, landing somewhere between landscape paintings & action sports photography. A combination of primitive expression and pop iconography.
